He had been waiting for this moment for so long, but somehow the moment took too long to come and went it came it made him a tad bit nervous. When he dug deep into his savings and salary, he was feeling really excited. His dream was finally coming out true.

They were all laughing at him and all his near and dear ones such as his family and friends, and agents who were supposed to offer him help. But as time moved on he felt a little apprehensive about the upcoming transformation, there were some aspects that he seemed to ignore.

Blast From the Past

When Liam Presley’s grandpa died, the only thing that he got was an abandoned house in Charlestown, Boston. The house looked weird and a lot different from any other houses he had seen before. He had a great relationship with his grandad so he was hoping that he may get something that

The house was like nothing he’d ever seen in person. The first time he saw it, he had to smother a cry because he felt he had been betrayed by his beloved grandpa.

The Youngest of The Family

Thirty-year-old Liam Presley was the youngest of the Warren family hailing from Boston who was an influential family that had taken into the country’s liberation several hundred years ago.

For Liam, the surname Warren carried a heavy burden. His life was constantly under scrutiny from the public eye and his family. But things were about to change and something that he hadn't anticipated at all. His life was about to change and he had no clue about that. He was bombarded by several ideas about how to change this house once and for all.

Since Liam considered the surname of Warren a burden but he couldn't ignore the gifts that came with the title of Warren. He had all the equipment in his kitty such as getting to study in a good school and getting a jumpstart in his career as an architect. But something in his life happened that was about to change the course of his life forever.

Liam’s mom told him about grandpa's death and Liam simply couldn't believe his ears. He was completely stupefied and dumbfounded. Out of all the other Warrens, he was the one closest to grandpa, and he had thought the world of him over the years.

Liam even pursued the goal of his grandpa who was an architect too and he had taught Liam all about designing houses. Liam didn’t quite know how much his death would affect him, but he knew, that it was a great loss for him and he didn't know how he would cope with the loss.

The Motive Behind His Grandpa's Decision

Liam’s grandpa's funeral turned out to be beautiful with people coming in hoards to pay their last respects to a great man. After the ceremony got over, his lawyer read out the will to tell the family members all about the nitty-gritty of the will.

At first, Liam was livid that his beloved grandpa would leave behind a derelict house in Charlestown whereas the rest of the family was at the right side of the deal. He finally realized the significance of his grandpas will much later. By then he was completely invested in the task he was undertaking.

A Rundown House

The house that Liam discovered was a 1,165-square feet skinny house and the house was in shambles. The lawn was completely overgrown and looked like it hasn't been looked after for years. Apart from that most of the wood has been rotting away, and there was little to no furniture in the house, it looked threadbare.

Liam took a quick look around the house. As it is he was sad at the prospect of losing his favorite person in the world and then he noticed something else that surprised him further.

18th Century Architecture

Liam was always interested in architecture which made him choose the career of an architect in the first place, but even he was surprised at the style of architecture. The house was a time capsule from the 18th century. He was surprised to see such a style of architecture.

He started assessing the place and studied each and every corner of the house. Now he knew why his grandfather had left this house for him, his grandfather knew that only he would understand the true value of the house. Liam had a sudden brainwave about the house.

Passion Project For Grandpa

Liam told himself that he would change the house forever and make it a passion project in order to honor his grandpa. He was so excited about the house that he couldn't stop working on it. He had set his goals for the next two years of his life. Of course, it wouldn't be easy and he would have to dig deep into his salary and savings to fund his renovations.

His idea was laughed at and even scorned. There were many who told him that he was just wasting his time. But he was there to prove them wrong. He was really excited about his plans.

Kicked About Renovating The House

Liam invested all his time in trying to renovate the house. He retained the original motif, as he went out to keep some of the 18th-century furniture to enhance the architectural style of the house. When he started making the repairs people in the neighborhood tried to find out exactly what he was trying to do.

Most of his neighbors discouraged him telling him that it was a fruitless pursuit but he still plodded on and he knew he owned it to his late grandfather to give the house the refurbishment it deserved.

Liam transformed the house, creating a time capsule as per the 18th-century design sensibilities. Thanks to his architectural endeavor, he completely changed the look of Charlestown, it was his way of thanking the man who had meant everything to him and had taught him all about architecture.

His work on the house soon became the talk of the town and there were respected realtors who came to him to buy the house. The question was would he finally give up the house? Didn't seem likely as he had worked hard on the house.

The House Had The Best Aesthetics in Charlestown

The main feature of the house as it was thin just ten feet wide. It fits into the neighborhood like a glove and boasted pretty aesthetics that created a buzz in the entire town. He finally decided to sell off the house at an auction, but he did not know how big would be the selling price.

By the end of the auction, the highest bid turned out to be $1.25 million and Liam was actually really surprised about the price it fetched. But there was more to it. The surprises had just started coming in. In fact, it was not raining but pouring surprises.

Turn it Into a Museum

The buyer told Liam that they were not looking at living in the house but wanted to turn the heritage house into a museum to flaunt the town’s heritage. That would fill the 18th-century house with furniture, paintings, and sculptures and invite tourists to enjoy the site with all its beauty.

Whatever their plans about the house they planned to retain the original name. Liam was still in two minds as lucrative as the deal sounded should he accept the deal? He continued to debate in his mind and yet he couldn't come up with a conclusion.

Liam thought of his family next and asked them if should he let go of the house. Even his family members asked him to follow his heart.  All this while he had been really angry at his grandfather for leaving him a derelict house. But now he realized that he had been gifted nothing built a treasure.

Liam did a proper valuation of his house. Although he had spent a number of years on the renovation of the house, he knew it would be one of the best ways to move forward. But it still made him think if was it the right thing to do.

Liam was at a crossroads while one part of him wanted to keep the house, there was another part of him that wanted to retain the house. He wanted to celebrate his family’s legacy. He kept thinking of the house, the same way he had been thinking about his grandad handing him the house. He had been very selfish then and he was ashamed of what he had thought then.

He finally called his lawyer to set things in motion. He finally redeemed himself by redoing the house. Liam also knew that his grandpa would be very happy with him today.

But how did this thin house come into being? Liam’s grandpa loved the oddities it involved. When he first saw the skinny house, he was completely in love with the house. He immediately bought the house on a whim and wanted to change the look of the house completely.

He was also completely enraptured with the history and story behind the house. But Liam's grandfather didn't know how to go about this as he was bogged down by ill health.  His ill health posed a serious hurdle in his path.

The house looked odd and it had been built to suit a particular purpose, revenge. The man who had conceptualized and built the house built it because he had one ax to grind against a certain group of people in the neighborhood.

Lewis Sharp was all about the placement of the house, but the house looked impractical to live in, it just looked different but may not be very convenient for living in it. Lewis wanted to make it a combination of comfort and convenience too.

Relax in the Evening

Lewis Sharp lived in the era of the 1830s and was a hardworking man. He was someone who loved to come back to his house after a hard day of work and pour himself a stiff drink and enjoy the evening in a relaxed manner.

But there was something that stopped him from enjoying his evenings and he didn't know what to do about it, in fact, he was completely clueless. He racked his brains to find out a ready solution.

Hatching a Genius Plan

Sharp had neighbors who believed in creating a ruckus in the adjacent alleyway, and the noise of the broken bottles and late-night brawls would drive him mad. In fact, the noise that the people created traveled into his upper-story window at night.

Also, the noise of the clip-clop of the horse-drawn carriage also made him see red. It was all getting a bit much to him and he started to form a genius plan to cancel all that noise that disrupted his peace of mind.

Plotting Revenge

Sharp was so amused by the idea he thought of himself that he became wildly excited and began chuckling to himself. He thought of the idea of how could he stop the infernal noise and get even. But he also had another thought playing in his mind, will the entire procedure turn out to be legal?

He wasn't someone to think about the logistics, he would do it either way. He had to stop this even if it was the last thing he ever did. He had to stop the miscreants, come what may.

Put His Plan into Action

Sharp quickly put his plan into action and started to build the house just the way he had envisioned. The alleyway was narrow, but he would make it work. No wagon would ever come this way again to disrupt his quiet evenings. He hated traffic and particularly hated the noise it created, he was one peaceful guy who loved to rest it out in the evening retiring from the day with happiness and quietude.

But not everything fell according to his plan, there were some things that stood in the way of his achieving his goals.

The alleyway turned out to be public property, and Sharp was not supposed to encroach upon it. But, he was so fixated upon the plan that he started to go about his masterful plan for revenge.

Unique Architectural Oddity

More than 200 years later, Liam’s grandpa Charlie Warren saw the auction listing finding about Lewis Sharp’s house, and as soon as he saw it he knew he had to buy it. Granted it was impractical and even an odd architectural wonder, but there was something about the house that drew him to the house.

He had gone past the Spite House for years while commuting to his office but he was particularly floored to see what was inside the house. It surprised him to no end. It caused him to worry a lot.

Complicated Projects

Many house flippers would tell you that redecorating and fixing old houses can certainly become complicated projects and cause a severe dent in your savings. But he wanted to buy this house, he knew it was on a whim but still once he had made up his mind, he didn't want to change it at all.

Charlie knew that it was a big task and since he was getting old and he had to finish the task sooner than later, he was keen on pursuing his goals and fulfilling them too.

Spending All His Savings

Charlie Warren was sixty years old when he fell in love again, yes he fell in love with the Spite House that he bought on a whim even if it meant digging into his savings on it. He wanted to keep the whole thing a secret from his relatives and planned to complete the renovations himself, but he had overestimated his health.

His failing eyesight forced him to move into the care facility and his per project remained untouched till his death. Now it was up to his grandson to carry forward the legacy.

Making it More Space Efficient

Liam had not only carried forward the legacy but done an excellent job of highlighting the original essence of the house such as the brick walls and wooden floors.

He started making more changes to the home and made it more space-efficient, he moved the heating and cooling system to a small attic space and fit-in cabinets to create space for a  water heater and had a washer-dryer unit built right there. The house turned out to be a combination of old sensibilities and modern elements.

Like a Cabin in a Ship

If one took a look at the house you would be transported back to the 18oos feel to it, and the look and feel of the house seemed to be like the cabin of a ship.

In fact, living in the house would give people a feel of how it is going to turn out as you live in a cabin of a ship on choppy waters. Liam even thought of renting the house to people who thought of embarking on ocean cruises. They would now get used to living in small cabins and won't feel claustrophobic either.

Liam's magnificent architectural creation surprised everyone. He wanted to transform his grandfather’s house and ensured that it dated back to the time it belonged to. The results were stunning! In fact, everyone was awestruck by the look of the house.

He had kept his promise to his grandpa and kept his honor intact. He also put the town on the map as people flocked to the city to take a look at the skinny house. He has certainly created an architectural wonder that would be talked about for years together.

The Impact of Skinny House

The residents of the town loved to visit the house and Liam never got tired of inviting the people to his humble abode before he sold it. Most people were at a loss for words as looked at the house with sheer amazement and the skinny house had an impact on each of the people who visited the house.
